Capital Institute of Physical Education (CIPE, formerly Beijing Teachers’ College of Physical Education) was founded in 1956 inBeijingMunicipality. In 1994, with Department of Education approval, it started to enroll foreign students. CIPE is conveniently located in the university area of Haidian, with excellent transport links. Nearby commercial areas include supermarkets, banks and restaurants, making everyday life easy. The campus has complete educational, fitness and leisure facilities, and when out of class students can exercise, take a sauna, swim, play table tennis, badminton or tennis and practice various martial arts. Free trips are arranged for foreign students two or three times a semester. CIPE offers modern courses with a Chinese flavor – including physical education, sports physiology, sports training and management, traditional minority sports and social physical education. Students are enrolled in four-year BA courses and three-year MAs. The above majors are all open to foreign students. CIPE has advanced educational, training and research facilities for both education and research. There is a large and modern stadium where international events including the 11th Asian Olympics, The Yuannan Disabled Games and the International Military Basketball Championships have been held. 200 educators and researchers work here, including 80 professors and vice-professors and 30 MA tutors – an outstanding teaching staff. CIPE runs Chinese language and culture training all year, and provides an excellent environment for students from any country to learn Chinese. All teachers have advanced Teaching Chinese as a Second Language certification issued by the Department of Education and many years of teaching experience, and the quality of education has been praised by students from around the world. Martial arts courses are also offered year-round, taught by specialized teachers with awards in many national competitions, many of whom are famous in the field. |
