Author guidelines

Experimental papers should be divided into the following parts: abstract with key words, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements, references. In papers of a different type, sections and their titles should refer to the described issues.

Papers should be submitted via e-mail to    jksong@khu.ac.kr (contact:+82-31-201-2708). An experimental paper, together with the figures, tables and abstract, should not exceed 10 pages. A normal page is considered to be an A4 sheet, with 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced text, with margins of 25 mm (1 inch ) at the sides and at the top and bottom. Use double spacing throughout, including for the abstract, text, acknowledgments, references, tables, and legends.

The COVER PAGE should include the title of the presentation; each PRESENTER/AUTHOR's full name, highest academic or medical DEGREE, and current position. Also, include the corresponding author's complete mailing address, telephone number, fax and electronic mail if available. On the FIRST PAGE of the manuscript include the title and the author's names double spacing between the title and the list of authors. Type each author’s name one after another separated by commas listing the senior author first.

Each author must sign the following statement:
I (we) hereby affirm that the above named manuscript is original and has not been published, nor is it currently under review for publication elsewhere.
I (we) in consideration of the acceptance of the above work for publication in the Proceedings of the 1st ICTR Symposium in 2007, do hereby assign and transfer to ICTS Organizing Committee all of the rights and interest in and to the copyright of my (our) above titled work.
I (we) warrant that the work has not been previously copyrighted and that I (we) have the right to transfer copyright.
[ Name ]   [ Signature ]   [ Date ]   - must be signed by each author.

Abstract should contain ca. 250 words. The abstract should be divided into: purpose, basic procedures, main findings and conclusions. It should emphasize any new and important aspects of the study. Below the abstract, authors should provide (and identify as such) 3 to 6 key words
. If suitable MeSH terms are not yet available for recently introduced terms, present terms may be used.
Text should contain the following sections: introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements (if necessary), references.
Introduction. State the purpose of the article and summarize the rationale for the study. Give only strictly pertinent references and do not include data or methods, results, discussion, conclusions, acknowledgements (if necessary), references.
Material and Methods. Clearly describe selection of the experimental subjects. Identify their age, gender, and other important characteristics. Identify the methods, apparatus (give the manufacturer’s name and address in parentheses), and procedures in sufficient detail to allow other workers to reproduce the results. Give references to established methods, including statistical methods (see below); provide references and brief descriptions for methods that have been published but are not well known; describe new or substantially modified methods, give reasons for using them, and evaluate their limitations. When reporting experiments on human subjects, indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional or regional). Describe statistical methods with enough detail to enable a knowledgeable reader with access to the original data to verify the reported results. These methods should also be summarized in the abstract.
Results. Present results in a logical sequence in the text, tables, and figures. Do not repeat in the text all the data presented in the tables or illustrations; emphasize or summarize only important observations.
Discussion. Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that follow from them. Do not repeat in detail data or other material given in the Introduction or the Results section. Include implications of the findings and their limitations, including implications for future research. Relate observations to other relevant studies.
Conclusions. Link the conclusions with the goals of the study but avoid unqualified statements and conclusions not completely supported by the data.
Acknowledgments. List all contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship (e.g., a person who provided purely technical help or writing assistance). Financial and material support should also be acknowledged.
References. Name references should be given in the main text (not in footnotes) by the name of the author(s) followed by the year of publication, e.g. Vindras and Viviani (1998); (Abernethy, et al. 1997; Roy & Hall, 1994). The reference list should be typed in alphabetical order without abbreviating the journal titles. Examples:

  • Books: Abernethy, B., Kippers, V., Mackinnon, L., Neal, R. J.,& Hanrahan, S. (1997). The biophysical foundations of human movement. Champaign, IL: Human Kinetics.
  • Book Chapters: Roy, E. A., & Hall, C. (1994). Limb apraxia: A process approach. In L. Proteau and D. Elliott (Eds.), Vision and motor control (pp. 261-282). Amsterdam: North-Holland.
  • Journal articles: Vindras, P.,& Viviani, P. (1998). Frames of reference and control parameters in visuomanual pointing. Journal of Experimental Science. July 19-23 2000, JyvaskylaFinland, 600.
  • Article in electronic form. Example: Donsmark M., Langfort J., Ploug T., Holm C., Enevoldsen L.H., Stallknech B. et al., Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) expression and regulation by epinephrine and exercise in skeletal muscle. Tables and figures. Each table together with its number, title, and annotations, should be submitted in a separate file. Authors should identify the places where tables and figures are to be included within the text. Figures should be prepared in black and white and marked on the back with the title of paper only (do not include the name of the author). Legends for the figures should be submitted on a separate sheet of paper and should be self-explanatory. When symbols, arrows, numbers, or letters are used to identify parts of the illustrations, identify and explain each one clearly in the legend. Only Figures prepared in Excel or Corel Chart (version 8 or lower) will be accepted. The recommended file formats for figures are: *.jpg, *.tif, with an image resolution of 300 or 600 dpi.
Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively according to the order in which they have been first cited in the text. Data should not be repeated in tables and figures.
Photographs must be black and white glossy prints.

Except in the case of review articles, the total number of references should not exceed 25.
